AUTUMN GREETINGS FROM
DR. SHARON TANNER, NLNAC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR -
It was such a pleasure to see so many of you at the NLN Education
Summit 2007 in Phoenix! Thank you for stopping by our exhibit and visiting
with us.

The 2007
Report to Constituents is on its way to all accredited programs
via mail and also
available
online. Be sure and review the report; aggregated
and trended data from over 1,200 nursing programs is included. Graduates
from NLNAC accredited programs continue to outperform non-accredited
programs in areas commonly utilized to determine student and program
outcomes including pass rates for licensure and certification exams.
WELCOME OUR NEW COMMISSIONERS - Results from
the 2007 elections were recently announced.
Please join us in welcoming the new Commissioners to NLNAC:
Carol Easley Allen, PhD, RN;
Deanna M. Suggs, MSN, RN, FNP-C; Rhonda Johnston, PhD, CFNP,
CANP, CNS;
David E. Ormstedt, JD;
Marsha H. Purcell, CAE; and
Dala J. Dewitt, MS, RN (re-elected for a new term) will join their
colleagues on the Commission at the Board's
November meeting.

DRAFT 2 OF THE NLNAC 2008 STANDARDS & CRITERIA RELEASED
FOR COMMENTS -
The development of the 2008 Standards & Criteria is ongoing. Draft 2 was
made available for your review and comments at our website
www.nlnac.org from September 30 -
October 30, 2007. Once again, your feedback will be utilized by the Committee
on Accreditation Standards and Criteria and six program specific
Subcommittees to guide the revisions in the final document. A
total of more than 2,100 individuals reviewed the drafts. Thank you for
providing your valuable feedback and recommendations. Watch for the
release of the 2008 Standards and Criteria in February.
SELF-STUDY FORUMS COMING SPRING 2008 -
The first Fall Self-Study Forum held in Palm
Springs, California this October was well attended with over 175
registrants. Many of the participants were colleagues from programs
throughout the western region of the United States. Thank you for your
support of this inaugural event. Plans are underway for the upcoming Spring 2008 Self-Study Forums in Chicago and Las
Vegas. Registrations
are now being accepted online at www.nlnac.org;
spaces are limited. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to learn more about
the accreditation process and the new 2008 Standards and Criteria.

INSIDE NLNAC . . . MEET OUR STAFF
NGOZI O. NKONGHO, PhD, RN, CNE -
Deputy
Director -
Dr. Nkongho joined NLNAC in 2004. In her role as Deputy Director, she works with programs seeking initial accreditation and those requested to write a Follow-Up Report by NLNAC Board of Commissioners. She also monitors
substantive change requests from our accredited programs and participates in conducting
focused visits as needed. In her spare time, Ngozi enjoys cultural events and participates in local community activities.
ANTHONY BUGAY -
Board Liaison & Manager of Special Projects -
Mr. Bugay has been working at NLNAC for eight years. As the Board Liaison, he provides direct assistance in matters pertaining to Board materials, correspondence, presentations, minutes, and logistics of the tri-annual meetings of the Board.
He also manages the Self-Study and Program Evaluator Forums and special
projects of the Commission. Outside the office, Anthony enjoys spending quality time with his
3 year-old daughter and family and is quite a sports competitor.
