Gary Carman, PhD, LMSW
Biographical Sketch


Gary O. Carman is President of Carman Consulting, a private consulting practice that he formed ten years ago. The consulting practice specializes in assisting public and non-profit human service organizations in achieving national accreditation. Prior to starting the consulting practice, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Julia Dyckman Andrus Memorial, one of the premier child and family service agencies in North America, for twenty-eight years.

Carman earned a BS and MS from the New York State College at Buffalo, a CAS and PhD from Syracuse University, and an MSW from Fordham University.

In addition to twenty years of service on the boards of three New York private hospitals, he served as a board member for the Council On Accreditation for Children and Families (COA) as well as serving for six years on COA’s Accreditation Commission. Other voluntary service includes a term of office as Chair of the American Delegation Institute International D’Education Specialsee. He is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
