Candidacy is the first step toward NLNAC Accreditation. Nursing education units considering accreditation who contact NLNAC are assigned a member of the professional staff as their mentor after eligibility requirements have been met. The mentor service is provided to facilitate program faculty self-review and planning.

Candidate status does not guarantee that a program will achieve initial accreditation.
