Biographical Sketch

Dr. Cheryl KishDr. Cheryl Kish joined the NLNAC professional staff in February 2010. In her role as NLNAC Professional Staff, Dr. Kish assists programs with Candidacy.
Dr. Kish graduated from a diploma program; she received a BSN from the Medical College of Georgia, an MSN from Georgia State University, and an EdD from the University of Georgia, where her dissertation topic was “A Comparison of Lecture and Clinical Simulation for Teaching ADN Students about the Immediate Care of Rape Victims.” Dr. Kish became a nationally-certified women's health nurse practitioner after completing a post-master's certificate at the University of Texas.
Dr. Kish has a diverse clinical background; however, she practiced in maternity and women's health settings predominately. She has 37 years of experience as a nurse educator and nurse administrator. Most recently, Dr. Kish served as Associate Dean for the School of Health Sciences at Georgia College and State University.
Dr. Kish has co-authored four (4) books and published 32 book chapters and several articles. Most of her publications relate to women's health, the nurse practitioner role, nursing education, and perinatal grief. She served as peer reviewer for the Journal of Obstetric and Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing for many years, receiving the Reviewer of the Year Award in 1999.
Her professional memberships include the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
