Biographical Sketch
Karen S. Hill, RN, MSN, CNAA, BC, FACHE, is Vice
President/Nurse Executive at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
Ms. Hill presents nationally focusing on topics of leadership development and
retention of nursing staff. She has published multiple articles in Nursing
Management and is a columnist and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal
of Nursing Administration. Ms. Hill received her associate degree in nursing, as
well as her bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Kentucky. She
is certified in Nursing Administration, advanced, and is a Fellow in the
American College of Healthcare Executives. Ms. Hill has received multiple honors
and awards, including selection as a Robert Wood Johnson, Executive Nurse Fellow
in 2000 and, in October of 2005, Central Baptist Hospital was recognized as a
Magnet Facility. Ms. Hill has a special interest in recruitment and retention
issues within nursing and leadership development. Ms. Hill was one of the six
authors of the RWJ project “Wisdom Works: The Retention of the Older and
Experienced Nurse, published in 2006. Through the Partnership in Education and
Nursing program at Central Baptist, Ms. Hill has secured over $400,000 in
scholarship dollars for nursing students over the past four years.
