Biographical Sketch
Dala
J. DeWitt earned her diploma in Registered Nursing at Community Hospital
School of Nursing in Springfield, Ohio, BSN from Indiana University-Purdue
University at Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Indiana, and MS from Wright State
University, Dayton, Ohio. She is currently the Senior Director of Community
Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Ohio.
Ms. DeWitt has been employed in nursing education for almost 30 years. Her
educational background includes positions as faculty member and senior director
of the school of nursing.
Ms. DeWitt has been the recipient of honors, awards, and scholarships. She was
awarded the Community Hospital School of Nursing Outstanding Alumnae of the Year
award in 2002, and was one of the finalists in the teaching category of the
Midwest Nursing Spectrum 2006 Nursing Excellence Awards.
Her professional memberships include: National League for Nursing, Ohio League
for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau - Alpha Chapter, Ohio Council of Hospital-based
Schools of Nursing, Dayton Area Nurse Educators, and American Organization of
Nurse Executives.
Ms. DeWitt has served as an NLNAC program evaluator since 1994, served two terms
on the NLNAC Evaluation Review Panel for Diploma programs, and was elected to
the NLNAC Board of Commission in 2004. She is also a member of Urbana University
Foundation Board.
She has served on numerous committees of state and national organizations which
include: NLNAC Nominating Committee, National Alliance for Nursing Education,
Ohio Collaborative for Educational Mobility Steering Committee, Nursing Practice
and Education Advisory Board of Ohio Board of Nursing, and the National League
for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
